How to Call German Airlines (Lufthansa, Eurowings) From Abroad
By the DialVia team ·
Quick answer: Eurowings has a real, working international number: +49 221 599 882 22. Lufthansa is a different story, its official contact page pushes AI chat and forms instead of a phone number, and we couldn't verify any of the numbers circulating for it online. Check your booking confirmation email or Miles & More account for a Lufthansa number you can actually trust.
Two very different experiences
Germany's two major airline brands handle phone support in opposite ways. Eurowings, the Lufthansa Group's budget subsidiary, publishes a standard customer service line that works internationally with the usual +49 format. Lufthansa itself has moved almost entirely to AI chat and web forms, and doesn't clearly list a general phone number anywhere on its official site.
What's actually verified
| Airline | Number | Status | Full guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eurowings | +49 221 599 882 22 | Verified, working | Call Eurowings from abroad |
| Lufthansa | No confirmed general number | Unconfirmed, circulating third-party numbers not verified | Call Lufthansa from abroad |
A word of caution on Lufthansa specifically
Searches for "Lufthansa phone number" turn up a lot of low-quality and, in a few cases, actively scam-looking pages. Fake customer-service numbers for major airlines are a real pattern, they either bill premium rates or try to extract your booking details. Stick to Lufthansa's own site, your booking confirmation email, or your Miles & More account rather than a number found through a general search. The full Lufthansa guide covers what we could and couldn't confirm in detail.
The cheaper way to actually make the call
Once you have a number you trust, add +49 and drop the leading 0 to dial it from abroad. With DialVia, you call it over Wi-Fi from your browser instead of paying roaming rates:
- Open DialVia and sign up (about 30 seconds)
- Select Germany as the destination
- Enter the number
- Hit call
